SR&OCM: Where did you come up with the idea for your book?
Cami from Finding Love’s Wings was the real inspiration for this story. I think I was thinking about her and how I could bring her and Tristan back, then she pretty much walked right in, sat down and said, I have a story for you. That’s how Addison was born, and how I ended up on the wild ride that is 69 Bottles.
I need to read Finding Loves Wings and Chasing Loves Wings (Mom Says Hands off Tristan hehehe). I fell in Love With Your Reason Series though. So I know I will Love all the Others.
SR&OCM: How did you come up with your characters?
I wish I could answer this question, but in reality, I really don’t. My characters all come from within me. Many times they are already there, in my head, as a muse for the moment. They come to me, sit down in front of me and tell me a story.
SR&OCM: Who did you show your first draft to and why?
Ahh, my best friend of more than 20 years, Rachel gets this honor. Poor girl.
When I wrote Finding Love’s Wings, I hadn’t shown it to anyone. I didn’t know how, I didn’t know if I could find the courage. So I decided to send it to her. I knew she loved to read and I thought, why not? So I sent it to her, saying here – read this. And she did. When she was done I asked her what she thought, she said that it was great. She really enjoyed it and she wanted to know who wrote it. When I told her that I did, I think I gave her a heart attack. Since then, she has been the first to read my work, usually chapter by chapter, much to her dismay, and she is my sounding board for all my books. She helps me work through plot hang-ups and where I could or should go with a story.
SR&OCM: Open your book to a random page and tell us the first paragraph…
Chapter 45 – Totally random, I swear:
“Why you?” Kyle asks and I pull the video I found from last night on YouTube and press play, turning up the volume.”
Now that was a tease if I’ve ever seen one. :-D!
SR&OCM: What do you like to read? Do you only read the genre you write in?
Romance books are my writing genre of choice and Romance books are the first books I pick up to read when I am read to read. I love a Great Love Story… though I originally fell in love with reading by reading mystery/suspense, which I still return to from time to time.
I also enjoy Romance Mom calls what I like to read from time to time Chic Lit and she is not a fan of Chic Lit but she Likes Romance I am still figuring out all the genres. I just read what really interest me and I am currently into Graphic Novels and Manga.
SR&OCM: Where do you go to escape?
A Good BOOK! I love reading and reading is my escape from reality whenever I can find time to squeeze it in.
SR&OCM: Do you have a favorite chapter in Claiming Addison?
MMM this would have to be chapter 26! This is where it all comes together!
Once I get it read I will let you know my fave Chapter.
SR&OCM: What advice do you have for aspiring writers?
Never stop writing! Never give up. Even though you write a book, it doesn’t mean you have to publish that book, keep writing, honing your craft and then, if the first book you’ve written is the first book you want to publish, use the lessons learned to make that book that much better.
I like to write as well and that is what mom tells me never give up.
SR&OCM: Would you recommend self-publishing or main stream publishing for first time novelists?
Honestly – No I cant recommend one over the other and I will tell you why. Each person is different. Some people are meant to be with a traditional publisher and that indie publishing isn’t for them and vise versa. You really need to weigh the pros and cons of both situations before you decide what you want to do. For me personally, I love being an indie author because I am held to only my own standards, my own guidelines and deadlines and I am able be open about topics I want to write about. Though I love this aspect, it doesn’t mean that some day, down the line, I might not look into traditional publishing, but Indie is who I am. But for someone else, traditional may work best for them.
